Greetings for the 2008 – 2010 Biennium

Dear District 3 Zonta Members,

Over the next two years, District 3 will be emphasizing a return to fundamentals.  The theme is “Back to Basics” which will help us achieve our mission of improving the status of women through service and advocacy. We will be examining best practices in recruiting new members, retaining current members and rejuvenating our clubs so that they will be more attractive to prospective members.  Zonta has so much to offer to those who truly care about improving the status of women, and we should emphasize our commitment to that improvement through local and international service as well as advocacy.  Zonta should truly be the service organization of choice.

Zonta has long highlighted the need for more new members and rightly so.  The more voices we add to our efforts, the more we will influence local and international policies and, in turn, we will empower more women everywhere.

What needs to be remembered is that the clubs in District 3 are not alone in their efforts.  The District 3 Board members, as well as the District 3 Committee Chairs, are here to help.  Call on us and we will respond.  You will find information on how to contact board members and chairs in the pages of this website.  We also have five Centurions this biennium.  They are all Past Governors with worlds of experience.  Please call on them as well.

Let us not forget the Zonta International Service Projects.  This biennium, the projects are all in conjunction with various United Nations organizations.  A full description of the projects can be found at zonta.org.  Make use of the attraction of international projects when recruiting new members.

We will begin the challenge--recruit, retain, rejuvenate--at our Conference 2008 in Hauppauge, Long Island and continue through Conference 2009 in Washington, D.C.  as well as in Spring Workshops. We urge you to take up the challenge.  Let us work together to move forward and to develop strong clubs.

Yours in Zonta,

Ellen
